Statement:
I address generational societal and cultural expectations through drawing, textile, and performance. The dichotomy of female objectification and control inform my body of work as they allow me to explore the multifaceted paradigm of sensuality, playfulness, and vulnerability. Through hyperbole, I address sexuality, the “gaze,” and feminine constructs as a form of empowerment rather than suppression. I draw from personal experiences through a cultural, societal and domestic lens as well as from ideologies in 3rd and 4th wave feminisms. Through the use of feminine materials and subject matter I create work that is about owning who you are while fighting outdated misogynistic constructs.
